The Broadway League and the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) present “TEACHERS NIGHT ON BROADWAY”
“TEACHERS NIGHT ON BROADWAY” is presented in conjunction with the United Federation of Teachers and The Broadway League. The event recognizes 500 NYC public school educators who will attend the February 2nd evening performance of CHICAGO to show appreciation for all their efforts on behalf of Broadway Bridges®. The evening celebrates the incredible work that teachers, chaperones, school social workers and guidance counselors, librarians, and school nurses do each day to help NYC public school students succeed.
Prior to the performance, a live press conference will take place in Duffy Square in Times Square at 5pm to acknowledge the great support shown for Broadway Bridges. This includes involvement from the United Federation of Teachers and the New York City Department of Education, a generous grant by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, as well as city council funding.
Now in its fifth season, Broadway Bridges is The Broadway League’s initiative that seeks to offer every New York City public high school student the opportunity to experience a Broadway show before graduation. To date, the program has introduced more than 80,000 New York City Department of Education sophomores and chaperones to Broadway, which helps to nurture the next generation of audiences and performing arts professionals.
