FIRST USE OF CONTACTLESS MOBILE PAYMENT TECHNOLOGY IN BROADWAY THEATRES
INNOVATION REFLECTS SHUBERT'S ONGOING COMMITMENT TO EXPANDING PAYMENT OPTIONS FOR BROADWAY TICKET-BUYERS
NEW YORK – Shubert Ticketing – a division of The Shubert Organization – launched mobile wallet functionality (Apple Pay™ and Google Wallet™) in all of its theatres on June 22nd, 2016. This is the first in-person mobile payment technology to be available on Broadway.
The introduction of contactless mobile payment platforms is part of The Shubert Organization’s ongoing commitment to providing the best experience for Broadway ticket-buyers at every step of the process– from purchase to utilizing in-theatre services. This option at Shubert box offices adds versatility to Shubert Ticketing's primary ticketing software.
Every year, more than 13 million people attend Broadway shows. These new payment platforms are designed to streamline the process of purchasing tickets at the box office.
”We are thrilled to bring mobile box office payment to Shubert Theatres in New York,” said David Andrews, Senior Vice President for Ticketing. “Ticket buyers at our box offices are often our most loyal customers and huge Broadway fans; it is important to The Shubert Organization that these customers are met with an easy, modern and time-efficient buying experience.”
Audiences are now able to use mobile payment (Apple Pay™ and Google Wallet™) to purchase tickets at box offices of all Shubert-owned Broadway theatres, in addition to Shubert's Off-Broadway venues.
